What a busy time it has been! Last weekend, after months of hard work, and I won the World Cosplay Summit selection round held in Sydney with our costumes Rem and Misa from 'Deathnote'. We will be Australia's representing team in the 2014 World Cosplay Summit held in Nagoya Japan XD
We are both very ecstatic and honored to be able to represent our country in this inaugural competition. We hope to do our best and look forward to meeting the other teams from around the globe! <3
Long time no see!! I'm officially halfway through my four week holidays, so here's an update on what's been happening
PHOTOSHOOT TIME!
At the start of the holidays, and I shot some of our fight game cosplays with our photographer friend Steven Brown. The weather was cold, both my Kitana and Mai cosplays offered me very little warmth but we found some great locations around Gold Coast and got some interesting pics XD
WCS
This year we will be entering the Australian selection round held in September This will be the first time we have entered a nation-wide competition and I'm really excited to be partnering my bf Storm1822 who is a talented cosplayer specialising in weaponry, masks and armor.
Happy Halloween!! I just realised it's been ages since I've done proper update post. It's been an intense few months, so here goes!!
Brisbane Animania Convention A few weeks ago, I finally debuted my Lia De Beaumont cosplay at Animania Though I'd spent over 2 months making my costume, I still found myself frantically putting the last finishing touches on my cosplay on the morning of the convention!!! Luckily I made it in time for my costume to be prejudged, then I got to catch up with friends throughout the day before going onstage for the 'Cosplay Catwalk'
At the end of the day when the results of the competition were announced, it was great to see so many of us take out the specialist Cosplay Awards (ehehehe~) Master Weapons Badge (Pictured: Lia's sword and Pain's broadsword) Master Makeup Badge (Pictured: Midna) Master Craftsmanship (Pictured: Paine) Won Best Individual Skit And I was very honoured to be awarded the Master Sewist and Master Costumer Award
Volunteering at MovieWorld Fright Night Last weekend, a group of us cosplayers volunteered as character performers at MovieWorld's Halloween Fright Night. I cosplayed as the White Queen from Alice in Wonderland It was an interesting experience, very different to conventions where you walk around with friends, get a photo and maybe perform onstage. As performers, we had to remain 'In Character' the whole time we were out in public and only break character once we returned to the safely of the green room.
The public gave us a lot of positive feedback about our costumes and enjoyed taking pictures with us.
However...
As the night progressed, our excitement slightly wore off as people started becoming more brazen; purposely stepping on our costumes, or pinching our bottoms, or smacking those of us wearing masks on the back of the head or tapping us to make us turn around when we weren't looking. That aside, we had an interesting night, but next year if we are to come back again, I think we'll definitely be requesting for crowd handlers to accompany us.
A Final Bonvoyage! This week the Australian cosplay community farewell our friend and fellow cosplayer as she sets sail for the distant shores of England. LolaInProgress is a talented cosplayer who I believe has made a great influence in the Australian cosplay community and we all wish her the very best in her bright and exciting future!
Hope you all have a wonderfully Spooky Halloween!!! <3 Till next time!!
Storm1822 (cosplay partner and bf ) and I have decided to join our cosplay making forces and enter the World Cosplay Summit PRELIMINARIES SELECTION ROUND, Australia in 2013.
We will face other cosplay duo's, displaying their fiercest costumes and performing their dramatic skits for the chance to represent Australia in the World Cosplay Finals held in Japan.
We have made a Facebook Page dedicated to showing our cosplay journey leading up the competition
Sorry for the lack of updates lately! I've been tied up with work and so I am taking this public holiday opportunity to update you on what's happening.
Last weekend I went to a zombie/horror fundraiser for Shannon from 'Dreamweaver Masks' www.facebook.com/pages/DreamWe…, who lost his house and workshop in a recent fire.
This is where I came to know of 'Drawn2Life', a volunteer group who cosplay at local charity & fundraiser events and who also visit the kids at the Mater Children's Hospital.

Originally aimed at sending out superheroes to charity events, I was unsure of what hero I could provide them, but when Sailor-Destiny (admin of the newly-added Disney team) suggested I could join as Mulan, I gladly accepted!
I went out and bought all my fabric the very next day. And for the past few days I've been brainstorming ideas such as handing out fortune cookies at events (venue permitting). In short, I can't wait to get started!!
